In the wake of Donald Trump‘s inauguration as the 45th President of the United States last Friday, both chambers are poised to respond to his first week decisions as they roll out of the Oval Office.

U.S. House of Representatives

Following a recess last week, the U.S. House of Representatives will resume legislative business on Monday and consider 11 several bills under Suspension of the Rules, including:

  1. H.R. 511 – Power And Security Systems (PASS) Act
  2. H.R. 587 – Fair RATES Act
  3. H.R. 590 – Advanced Nuclear Technology Development Act of 2017
  4. H.R. 518 – EPS Improvement Act of 2017
  5. H.R. 290 – Federal Communications Commission Process Reform Act of 2017
  6. H.R. 423 – Anti-Spoofing Act of 2017
  7. H.R. 588 – Securing Access to Networks in Disaster Act
  8. H.R. 555 – Amateur Radio Parity Act of 2017
  9. H.R. 460 – Improving Rural Call Quality and Reliability Act of 2017
  10. H.R. ___ – Federal Communications Commission Consolidated Reporting Act of 2017
  11. H.R. 582 – Kari’s Law Act of 2017

On Tuesday, the House will consider H.R. 7: the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017. An identical bill passed the House in the last Congress. The bill would broaden the existing language of the Hyde Amendment, banning the use of any federal funds to pay for abortions.

The House is not scheduled to be in session for the remainder of the week, due to the annual Republican congressional retreat in Philadelphia, Penn. T

The U.S. Senate will primarily continue consideration of Trump’s Cabinet picks.
