A Florida craft beer pub chain is expanding into the Alabama market.

The Brass Tap, an upscale craft beer concept based in Tampa, is set to open one in Huntsville, part of 18 new locations planned for the next year. The Alabama location – scheduled to open spring 2018 — will be at the intersection of Bob Wallace Avenue and Memorial Parkway, part of the $40 million 41,500-square-foot Merchants Square development project from RCP Companies.

Launched in 2008, The Brass Tap began franchising in 2012, now with 40 locations nationwide.

AL.com reports that RCP held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for Merchant’s Square, which will also have Chuy’s and ULTA Beauty.

Director Odie Fakhouri said there will be other new-to-Alabama outlets announced in the next 10 days, including a 6,000 square-foot regional steakhouse and seafood restaurant. Talks are also underway for additional tenants nearby, including a possible Whole Foods Market.

“Including Chuy’s, these are three first to Alabama or Huntsville concepts,” Fakhouri told AL.com. “We are excited to have them join the quality operators in the area.”

Brass Tap will offer more than 60 regional craft beer taps, craft cocktails and 150 domestic and international beers in draft, bottle and cans. It will also offer a choice of premium wines and cigars.
