On Independence Day, also known as the the 4th of July, Americans across the country will celebrate our nation’s 242nd birthday. If you’re still trying to decide what to do on the 4th of July, Alabama Today has you covered with celebrations and fireworks displays across the state:

Alexander City

4th Of July Blast
When: Activities from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. with fireworks at 9 p.m.
Where: Lake Martin.
Cost: $10; kids 6 and under are free

Watch fireworks over the lake from the lawn of the amphitheater after enjoying a concert.

Athens

Red, White and Boom!
When: At dusk, 8 p.m. or later.
Where: Athens High School Stadium, 100 U.S. 31
Cost: Free.

Fireworks show with synchronized music.

Birmingham

Thunder on the Mountain 
When: 9 p.m.
Where: Vulcan Park and Museum
Cost: Free

Birmingham’s annual fireworks display with Vulcan as the centerpiece of the program.

Childersburg

Sound, Light and Water Show
When: Jun 8-Jul 31, Mon.-Sat., 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Sun., 1-5:30 p.m.
Where: DeSoto Caverns Family Fun Park.

Patriotic show that tells of America’s history. Shown on every tour of the caverns.

Daphne

Daphne’s Jubilee Independence Day Fireworks Display
When: 5 – 9:30 p.m.
Where: Trione Sports Park.
Cost: Free

Annual fireworks display. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Decatur

Spirit of America Festival
When: Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.
Where: Point Mallard Park.
Cost: Free

Celebrate the nation’s birthday at one of the state’s largest patriotic festivals, featuring children’s activities, live music, the Miss Point Mallard Pageant and a fireworks show.

Demopolis

Freedom on the River
When: 5 – 9 p.m.
Where: Downtown and along Tombigbee River.
Cost: Free

Fireworks show on the river with bands, food vendors and a children’s patriotic parade.

Dothan

Family 4th Celebration
When: Music all day, with a headline act at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks display shortly after 9 p.m.
Where: Center Stage.
Cost: Admission charged.

Enjoy a day of family activities, including water slides for the kids, shows, music, games, rides and festival foods.

Fairhope

Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks Display
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Henry George Park and Fairhope Municipal Pier.

The Baldwin Pops Band Independence Day Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. with a variety of patriotic music before and after the fireworks display. The fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m.

Florence

Shoals Spirit of Freedom Celebration
When: 2-10 p.m.
Where: McFarland Park.
Cost: Free

Live music and family activities with food vendors onsite. Fireworks show after dark.

Greenville

Celebrate America
When: 7 – 9:30 p.m.
Where: Greenville High School Stadium.
Cost: Free

Gulf Shores

Independence Day Fireworks
When: 9 p.m.
Where: Gulf Shores Public Beach.
Cost: Free

Fireworks shot over the beach and accompanied by special patriotic music broadcast on Sunny 105.7FM radio.

Fort Morgan Salute to American Independence  
When: 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Where: Fort Morgan State Historic Site.
Cost: Admission charged.

Independence Day is celebrated at Fort Morgan with artillery firing, small arms firing and special tours of the Fort.

Guntersville

All American Celebration
When: 9 .m.
Where: Lake Guntersville.

Luverne

July 4th Fireworks Display
When: Fireworks display at 8:30 p.m.

Mobile

4th of July Downtown
When: 2 – 8 p.m.; 9 p.m. fireworks
Where: Downtown: 155 S. Water St.
Cost: Admission charged.

Enjoy multiple activities outside on the Riverfront Promenade overlooking the Mobile River to keep the entire family entertained, including an inflatable Tropical Water Slide for children.

Montevallo

Independence Day 1776
When: Noon to nightfall.
Where: The American Village.
Cost: Admission charged.

See the stories of America’s founding with period re-enactors such as Patrick Henry and Abigail Adams, play Colonial games, patriotic music, fireworks and more.

Montgomery

4th of July Family Picnic
When: Live Music begins at 6 p.m. with fireworks at 9 p.m.
Where: Riverfront
Cost: Free

Enjoy a picnic by the river. Coolers, food and beverages are allowed.

Pike Road

Summer Fest
When: 5 – .m.
Where: The Waters Neighborhood, 2283 Marler Rd, Pike Rd
Cost: $10 per car

Bring a picnic and blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy the musical entertainment and fireworks.

Prattville

Prattville Independence Day Celebrations
When: Begins at 9 a.m.
Where: Various Locations.

Parade, BBQ/camp stew sale and fireworks. Parade begins 9 a.m. at Autauga County Courthouse; BBQ/Camp Stew sale 10 a.m. at Pratt Park; fireworks begin at dark at Stanley-Jensen Stadium.
