The Montgomery City Council voted 4-3 against an ordinance that would have kept teenagers off the streets late at night in hopes of curtailing crime.
The controversial ordinance would have required teens 17 and younger to be off the streets from11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and by midnight on Friday and Saturday.
The decision was made during Tuesday’s council meeting after the Montgomery Police Department (MPD) Chief Ernest Finley presented data that the MPD gathered for three months that he says revealed there’s no need for a curfew.
