With marketing firms predicting unprecedented advertising estimates for political ads in the 2015-2016 election cycle, advertisers are now worrying about “political crowd out” with so many candidates (also PACs and outside groups) placing ads. The quest for key, prime time spots will lead to not only rate spikes but also an saturation of the market.
Whether or not that saturation will become over-saturation is the question. Will home-viewers tire of the onslaught of political ads, which could ultimately backfire on candidates’ efforts? Only time will tell.
