While many of President Donald Trump‘s Cabinet picks are being confirmed, Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions will have to wait another wait on his confirmation vote to be America’s next attorney general.
The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday announced the committee will delay a week, until Jan. 31, at the request of California Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the senior Democrat on the committee. Per the committee’s rules, any member may request a one week delay.
On Sunday, Sessions submitted nearly 200 pages of written responses to questions to the committee. Feinstein said she and her Democratic colleagues need more time to review the responses.
A spokesman for Feinstein said she requested the extra week “to give the committee more time to conduct its due diligence.”
Despite Democratic opposition, Sessions is expected to be confirmed when his nomination makes its way to the Senate floor.
