The Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice (ACIJ) — is a grassroots, statewide network of individuals and organizations that works to advance and defend the rights of immigrants in Alabama — held a DREAM Act Vigil on Thursday as part of a myriad of events across the country designed to pressure Congress to pass Dream Act legislation before it recesses for the holidays.
The vigil, which took place in the Birmingham Civil Rights District at the historic Kelly Ingram Park was open to members of the public.
“Please join our vigil for the DACA youth during this week of Congress making decisions that will affect us all,” the ACIJ posted on Facebook.
