Donald Trump may have publicly taken a stand against Jeff Sessions and his senatorial campaign, but clearly, he still agrees with and is influenced by his former attorney general as evidenced by a late-night Monday tweet when Trump announced a plan to sign an executive order temporarily halting immigration, a policy suggestion Sessions’ made last Thursday.

Trump tweeted, “In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!”

On Thursday, Sessions suggested the plan as more than 22 million Americans have filed for unemployment since mid-March. He called for moratorium on employment-based immigration until the U.S. unemployment rate goes back down below 3.5%, where it was in February 2020.

And Sessions didn’t miss that Trump is making good on his suggestion.

He tweeted, “Last week, I announced on @TuckerCarlson ’s show my plan to suspend immigration until Americans are back to work. It’s great news that @RealDonaldTrump is putting this into action!”
