Following a statewide spike in coronavirus cases, Jefferson County on Friday announced a new county-wide ordinance that requires face masks to be worn public effective Monday, June 29, at 5 p.m.

The ordinance comes from Jefferson County Health Officer, Dr. Mark Wilson.

“We are at a place here in the last couple of weeks where it looks like we probably had more virus circulating in the general population than we had since the beginning,” Wilson told the Jefferson County Mayor’s Association last week.
