State port authority officials say a terminal management company is planning to expand operations at the Port of Mobile.

Officials said in a statement Tuesday that APM Terminals is planning to add two new cranes and expand the container facility at Choctaw Point.

Port officials say the company is investing $40 million in the 20-acre expansion. Officials say the state has invested $50 million to build an intermodal transfer facility that offers access to five railroads. The intermodal transfer facility is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2016.
