Henry Thornton, staff writer for Yellowhammer News, has been hired by mayor Tommy Battle to be the external relations officer for the city of Huntsville. Thornton will take over the position from Harrison Diamond. Diamond has been the business relations officer for Huntsville since 2014.
Thornton graduated from Sewanee in 2014. He worked for Kay Ivey’s campaign for governor and was TitleAssistant Director of Field Operations for Mayor Battle’s campaign for governor in 2018.
Thornton stated on Twitter, “Today was my last at Yellowhammer News. It has been an incredible experience! I cherished every minute. I have accepted an appointment from Mayor Battle to be the external relations officer for the city of Huntsville. I could not be more excited about this new adventure!”
