Secretary of State John H. Merrill, Montgomery County Probate Judge J.C Love, and representatives from several Montgomery-area higher-learning institutions held a joint press conference to announce the launch of Montgomery County’s Voter Registration Kiosk Pilot Program.

According to the press release, the Voter Registration Kiosk Pilot Program will “enable students to register to vote and update their registration information from a secure location and through a trusted source while remaining on their college campuses.” Alabama State University, Auburn University at Montgomery, Faulkner University, Huntington College, Trenholm Community College, and Troy State University-Montgomery will be participating in the program.

Judge J.C Love stated, “We are excited about this innovative technology and our ability to use it as a new tool to increase voter registration and improve voter access. We are thankful for the support of our local higher-learning institutions in this effort.”

Secretary of State Merrill praised the program saying, “It is always a good day’s work when we can make it easier to vote and harder to cheat. This pilot program will continue to improve our administration of elections in this state.”
