As conservatives gather inside Bryant-Denny Stadium for the Tuscaloosa County Republicans Lincoln-Reagan dinner Tuesday evening, members of the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice will protest the anti-immigrant policies of Republican Ted Cruz outside.

The junior senator from Texas and White House hopeful will be the keynote speaker at the annual event, and the ACIJ is taking this opportunity to take a stand against his “deport them all” policy when it comes to solving America’s broken immigration system.

“As a DACA recipient I have personally felt under attack as Senator Cruz time and time again tries to take the only sense of security I have ever had in my whole entire life here in the US,” said Alejandro Guizar, organizer with the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice. “I will stand up today with immigrant families who would qualify for DAPA, something that Cruz has also been extremely verbally against. We will be marching to tell Cruz that a presidential candidate will not live in the White House when he attacks our families so actively and directly. Immigrant families won’t forget.”

Immigrant families and supporters will carry signs and chant cheers marching around the stadium from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., representing the thousands of hardworking immigrants that live and work in the Yellowhammer state.
