The national pro-life powerhouse Susan B. Anthony List is backing incumbent U.S. Rep. Martha Roby (R-Ala.) in her campaign for re-election to Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District.

Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, made the announcement Tuesday at the Team Roby campaign headquarters in Old Cloverdale where former Congressman Marilyn Musgrave, Vice President of Government Affairs for Susan B. Anthony List joined Roby to announce the endorsement and discuss the importance of defending the unborn in Congress.

“Since her election in 2010, Congresswoman Martha Roby has been an unwavering voice for unborn children and women,” said Musgrave. “From cosponsoring and advocating for pro-life legislation, to speaking out on the House floor and in the media, Rep. Roby has distinguished herself as a thoughtful, passionate leader. We are proud to endorse her re-election campaign and look forward to her return to Congress where we know she will continue to champion pro-life, pro-woman policies.”

The endorsement comes the week of the 43rd anniversary of the pivotal Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion on demand in the United States. Since joining Congress in 2011, Roby has been a staunch pro-life advocate and was recently named by Newsmax among the top 100 most influential pro-life figures in the country alongside Rev. Franklin Graham, Tim Tebow and Dr. Ben Carson.

Upon receiving the endorsement Roby thanked SBA List for their support and said her fight to defend the unborn in Congress will continue.

“I’m honored that Susan B. Anthony List is supporting me with its very first endorsement of the 2016 cycle,” Roby said. “SBA List is not only a strong partner in carrying the pro-life banner on Capitol Hill, they also have given needed organization and political influence to a movement that is growing stronger every day.

Roby continued, “Fighting for the unborn isn’t political to me; it’s personal. As you may know, I used served on the board at Save-A-Life here in Montgomery. I’ve supported AGAPE of Central Alabama and other agencies that offer hope and peace to women through the loving act of adoption. And, in Congress, I have fought to increase legal protections for the unborn every chance I have had.

“The pro-life movement is making real progress. We’ve done it by being smart and working with each other to bring more Americans to our cause, not by working against each other and dividing the movement. That’s why this election is so important.

“As long as I’m in office, I’ll fight to increase protections for the unborn.”
