The SEC Primary, which is part of the Super Tuesday elections held across the nation, will be held Tuesday. In all, residents from more than 12 states will head to the polls and cast their votes for candidates hoping to earn a lion’s share of the 595 delegates at stake across the country.

In an effort to keep the public abreast of up-to-date election results, the Alabama Secretary of State’s office will be reporting results at www.alabamavotes.gov throughout the night.

Polls close at 7 p.m. and the first results will be electronically sent to the Office of the Secretary of State and streamed to the website. Results will include presidential primary numbers, as well as other federal, state and local elections, as well as amendments.

“For the first time in the history of our state, all 67 counties have committed to participate in our election night reporting,” Secretary of State John Merrill said in a news release. “We want everyone who is interested, including media outlets, citizens and elected officials, to have the opportunity to view the results of the SEC Primary in real time!”

Merrill said the electronic results would be a “great resource” for the people of Alabama and said the operation would not have been possible without the cooperation of “Alabama’s Probate Judges and other county officials.”
