Birmingham voters will have plenty of candidates to choose from when the head to the polls this August to vote for mayor. Qualifying to run for the office ended at 5 p.m. Friday and a whopping 12 candidates have qualified for the Aug. 22 ballot. They also had to pay a $300 qualifying fee. If necessary, runoff elections will be held October 4. The next mayor of Birmingham is scheduled began their term of office on October 24.
