Bill Hightower calls on Congress to investigate China, WHO’s coronavirus ‘cover-up’

Former state Senator and Congressional-hopeful Bill Hightower believes the Chinese government and World Health Organization (WHO) are covering-up details of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and wants Congress to investigate.   “While there are many unanswered questions looming, the trajectory of this pandemic is undeniable. The Communist Chinese government knew more than they told the world for too long, but it is clear we may never get straight answers from them,” said Hightower. “That is why it is critical that Congress holds public hearings to hear from officials from the World Health Organization about what they knew, when they knew it, and what protocols they had in place to address

Bill Hightower ‘praying for God’s guidance’ in potential congressional run

Now that sitting 1st District U.S. Rep. Bradley Byrne has announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate, there’s chatter over who will run for his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Among those considering a congressional run is Mobile-Republican, former State Senator Bill Hightower. “Since Congressman Byrne’s U.S. Senate campaign announcement, I have been honored by the many calls I have received urging me to launch a campaign for Congress in Alabama’s 1st District. Bill Hightower runs for governor on flat tax, term limits

State Sen. Bill Hightower is stressing his background as a businessman as he runs for governor on a sweeping platform of proposed government overhauls that include term limits for legislators and replacing the state income tax code with a flat tax. “I think Alabama needs a businessman. I think Alabama needs something different than they ever had before,” Hightower said in an interview with The Associated Press. Hightower is challenging Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey in the June 5 Republican primary along with evangelist Scott Dawson and Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. A relative newcomer in state politics, Hightower was first elected to the Alabama Senate in a 2013 special

Gubernatorial hopeful Bill Hightower releases medical records, calls opponents to do same

Gubernatorial hopeful, State Sen Bill Hightower (R-Mobile), released his medical records Friday, calling on his fellow candidates for Governor of Alabama to do likewise. Hightower’s personal physician in Mobile, Ala. writes that the 58-year-old Hightower is in “excellent physical health.” Dr. Gamil S. Dawood says Hightower “has undergone a number of tests resulting in acceptable/normal ranges.” Among the tests mentioned were a routine colonoscopy, a cardiac calcium scan, a cardiolite Myocardial Perfusion Exercise stress Test, and blood panel. “These tests did not indicate or raise any concerns about Mr. Hightower’s health,” Dr. Dawood concluded. Hightower said he’s releasing his records because he believes the job of a Governor is “is a

Bill Hightower said 1,700 families generate 80 percent of crime in Mobile, but is that true?

During AL.com’s Reckon debate on April 18, Alabama State Senator and gubernatorial candidate Bill Hightower said that in Mobile approximately “1,700 families generate 80 percent of the crime.” But is this statistic correct? “The general idea that a few people are engaged in a lot of problem behavior and criminal behavior makes a lot of sense and would be consistent with what we see with a lot of other types of crime,” Adam Lankford, an associate professor of criminology and criminal justice at the University of Alabama told AL.com. And his statement holds up; according to one study conducted by the Centre for Ethics, Law and Mental Health in

Bill Hightower qualifies for Alabama governor race

State Sen. Bill Hightower qualified with the Republican Party of Alabama to appear as a candidate for Governor on the primary ballot June 5. Regarded as one of the most conservative senators in Alabama, Hightower has continually backed legislation for smaller government, lower taxes and to change Alabama to the flat tax. He currently runs several small businesses, which he believes makes him distinctively qualified to advance job-growing policies for families in Alabama. “I want our businesses and families to flourish,” said Hightower. He continued, “I am excited about this next step in our journey. We have focused our campaign on my strong conservative record of reform, our

After staying quiet in the race to fill his current seat in Congress, Alabama 1st District U.S. Rep. Bradley Byrne finally broke his silence on Thursday when he announced his endorsement of Republican Jerry Carl.
