Congressman Gary Palmer announced today that effective Monday, July 13, his Deputy Chief of Staff will take on an additional role. Cari Fike will become Executive Director of the Republican Policy Committee in addition to continuing in her current position. Fike has served as Palmer’s Legislative Director since 2015 and assumed the Deputy Chief position in February 2020.

“Cari has done an outstanding job since day one as my Legislative Director,” Palmer said in a press release. “Her thorough understanding of policy, of how to communicate it, and of the critical matters facing our country make her the ideal person to step into this position. I’m confident she will continue to lead our policy team and serve our country with excellence in this new position.”

According to the House Republican Committee’s website, the committee is primarily an advisory committee, with the aim of helping Republican members of Congress debate and discuss policy proposals before the House. The committee then reports any findings to the House Republican Conference. Palmer is the first congressman from Alabama to chair the committee.

According to Fike’s LinkedIn, her impressive career saw her working for Heritage Action for America in 2014, before joining Gary Palmer’s staff. She also served as the oversight counsel for the Senate Committee on the Budget. Fike is a two time graduate of the University of Alabama. She holds a Bachelor’s degree (2008) and a Law degree (2011) from the state’s flagship university.
