Judy Carns the wife of State Representative Jim Carns of Vestavia Hills, passed away following an illness. Carnes served as a delegate in 2016, pledged to Donald Trump, at the Republican National Convention.

Carns was a well known, well respected conservative activist incredibly involved republican causes and groups around the state.

Since news of her death broke, leaders from around the state have expressed their sympathy to the Carns family:

Our friend and fellow lawmaker, State Rep. Jim Carns, suffered a great loss over the weekend with the passing of his beloved wife, Judy.  The two of them made a tremendous team and provided everyone within their orbit a textbook example of a loving and committed marriage.

-Speaker Mac McCutcheon, Speaker of the AL House of Representatives

On behalf of the House Republican Caucus, our prayers of comfort and healing go out to Rep. Carns and to the family and friends that Judy leaves behind.  Everyone whose life was touched by Judy can take solace in the fact that we will see her again one day when God calls us home, as well.

-Nathaniel Ledbetter, Chair-House Republican Caucus

Tonight, I’m heartbroken over the loss of Judy Carns. She was a true Steel Magnolia in our state. Her faith in the Lord was always at the cornerstone of every conversation we ever had.

-Britney Garner, President- Greater Birmingham Republican Women

A true gracious lady in her words and deeds. We lift the names of the family of AL State House of Representative Jim Carns up to the Lord’s ear. A big loss for us all.

My sweet friend Judy Maddox Carns, wife of State Representative Jim Carns, has finished her race and is now with Jesus. Let me tell you, there is some shouting going on up there!

Judy was a Champion Prayer-Warrior and a one-of-a-kind jewel. As past Chaplain of the Alabama Legislative Club she always prayed for our legislative club, us, our spouses, and our state. She knew the blessings and burdens life in politics can bring.

She was special to so many, including myself. Judy became my prayer mentor shortly after we met in 2013. Whether we were visiting in her beautiful garden or together at legislative events, Judy was always our bright and shining star and the love of God radiated through her to all. And we always laughed and laughed.

Many prayers for her husband, Jim, and her family and friends. Judy can never be replaced, but we can all try to be a little more like her.
