Robert Bentley orders Alabama National Guard to protect U.S. border

On Tuesday, Gov. Robert Bentley ordered Alabama National Guard members to assist in protecting the United States border with Mexico at the request of the National Guard Bureau. The state will send UH-72 helicopter and three pilots to Marana, Arizona to assist in this effort. “Securing the U.S. border is an issue that is important to every American, and the Alabama National Guard is supporting the effort to secure the border,” Bentley said in a press release. “The men and women who serve in the Alabama National Guard are some of the most dedicated and professional military service members in the country.  I appreciate the Guard’s effort to support the

Dale Strong introduces legislation to build a border wall

Congressman Dale Strong spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to call for the Biden Administration to resume building the wall along the Southern Border with Mexico. This was the first speech that Strong has given on the floor of Congress. Rep. Strong recently traveled to the border with House Committee on Homeland Security members to see the crisis firsthand. “The Secretary of Homeland Security says that the American border is secure,” Strong said. “The American people know better.” “While heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, and human smuggling are flowing into our country at alarming rates, America is under attack,” Strong said. “The problem is not with the laws. The problem is with this

Donald Trump says ‘strong action’ coming on immigration

President Donald Trump pledged “strong action today” on immigration, a day after he said he wants to use the military to secure the U.S.-Mexico border until his “big, beautiful wall” is erected. In an early-morning tweet Wednesday, Trump said “Our Border Laws are very weak” and said Democrats “stand in our way” of new laws. He added “We will be taking strong action today.” Trump did not offer further details and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Trump told reporters on Tuesday that he’s been discussing the idea of using the military at the border with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis. “We’re going to

Kay Ivey demands answers on migrants flown to states

Kay Ivey has joined a group of twenty-four additional Republican governors who want to know how many illegal foreign nationals have been flown into their states by a Biden-Harris administration plan they argue is burdening their residents and creating an unsafe environment. Those being flown in have arrived through more than a dozen parole programs created by U.S. Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The governors only inquired about one: the CHNV parole program, created to fast track previously inadmissible citizens of Cuba, Honduras, Nicaragua and Venezuela moving into the country. According to the latest U.S. Customs and Border Protection data, 530,000 CHNV parolees were released into the

GOP governors: Biden administration, Congress should curtail foreign land buys

Seventeen Republican governors said the Biden administration and Congress should intervene in the purchase of land by foreign entities. A letter sent Monday by the governors specifically mentioned the Chinese government. “It is no secret the communist regime in China is acquiring swaths of real property throughout the United States,” the governors said in the letter. “Very recently, Gotion, Inc., a subsidiary of Chinese-controlled Gotion High-Tech, Inc., bought two hundred and seventy acres of land in Green Charter Township, Michigan, not far from the Camp Grayling National Guard facility. Unfortunately, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States declined to block—or even review—this plainly alarming transaction.” Alabama,

Utah attorney general claims victory in Wawa data breach settlement case

The United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit recently sided with a coalition of attorneys general led by Utah Attorney General Sean D. Reyes. It happened after Reyes led an amicus brief in Wawa v. Frank.  The decision gave, “the Utah Attorney General’s Office a legal victory in an important case involving a question of reasonable settlement awards to consumer class members and class counsel,” according to Reyes’ office. This challenge came about after Wawa’s settlement of a nationwide data breach case gave more money to class counsel ($3.2 million in fees) than it did to the victims in question; the victims received $80,000 cash and a

Tommy Tuberville opposes aid for Gaza while it is under Hamas control

U.S. Senators Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) joined their colleagues in sending a letter to Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) urging him to reject President Joe Biden’s request for up to $9 billion in humanitarian assistance to Hamas-controlled Gaza. “We are writing to demand that, during Israel’s existential war against Iran’s terrorist proxies, you reject the billions of dollars in humanitarian assistance requested for Gaza as part of President Biden’s $106 billion aid package,” Tuberville and Blackburn wrote. “As you know, sending aid to the Palestinians in Gaza is akin to funneling aid directly to Hamas. The President’s decision to allocate additional funding, in addition to the $100 million in aid previously announced, will inevitably

Joe Biden decides to keep Space Command in Colorado, rejecting move to Alabama

President Joe Biden has decided to keep U.S. Space Command headquarters in Colorado, overturning a last-ditch decision by the Trump administration to move it to Alabama. The choice ended months of thorny deliberations, but an Alabama lawmaker vowed to fight on. U.S. officials told The Associated Press on Monday that Biden was convinced by the head of Space Command, Gen. James Dickinson, who argued that moving his headquarters now would jeopardize military readiness. Dickinson’s view, however, was in contrast to Air Force leadership, who studied the issue at length and determined that relocating to Huntsville, Alabama, was the right move. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to provide details

Katie Britt says that children are paying the price for Biden’s border crisis

U.S. Senator Katie Britt last week participated in a press conference with a group of colleagues highlighting how the border crisis and how it has continued to endanger vulnerable children and empower dangerous drug cartels. Britt was joined at the press conference by Senators John Cornyn (R-Texas), James Lankford (R-Oklahoma), Ted Budd (R-North Carolina), John Hoeven (R-North Dakota), and Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin). According to a FOX report, more than 300,000 unaccompanied minors have entered the United States since Joe Biden took office. Nearly 85,000 of these children are now missing and unaccounted for – presumably somewhere in the United States. “Here we are, Senate Republicans, standing here again talking about the very same topic – the toll that the

AG Steve Marshall leads 21-State coalition protecting children from sex-modification procedures

On Wednesday, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall filed a multistate brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in support of Kentucky’s and Tennessee’s bans on experimental and life-altering sex modification procedures for children. The 21-state brief is co-led by Alabama and Arkansas. The brief highlights what the AGs call the dishonesty of advocacy groups like the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) that urge courts to defer to them on issues of pediatric sex modification. The brief argues that the Constitution gives states, not WPATH, the authority to protect children from sterilizing medical interventions pushed by LGBTQ+ groups. “In the past, federal courts have

Tommy Tuberville and Joe Manchin propose NIL reform legislation

On Tuesday, U.S. Senators Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) and Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) introduced the Protecting Athletes, Schools, and Sports (PASS) Act of 2023 to reform name image and likeness (NIL) standards in college sports. The sponsors say that their legislation protects student-athletes, maintains fair competition and compensation, strengthens transparency, and preserves the time-honored tradition of college sports. “Student-athletes should be able to take advantage of NIL promotional activities without impacting their ability to play collegiate sports,” Sen. Tuberville said. “But we need to ensure the integrity of our higher education system, remain focused on education, and keep the playing field level. Our legislation with Senator Manchin will set basic rules nationwide, protect our student-athletes, and keep

AG Steve Marshall opposes Biden administration plan to phase out gas-powered vehicles

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall on Thursday released a statement denouncing the Biden Administration’s plan mandating the phasing out of gas-powered vehicles. This move, Marshall argues, would compel the restructuring of the entire automobile industry around the production of electric vehicles (EVs). The proposal by the Biden Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency would boost certain EV sales from 8.4% of total vehicle sales to 67% by 2032. Attorney General Marshall signed onto the 25-state coalition letter opposing the EPA plan, arguing the move would damage our economy, undermine the reliability of our electrical grids, threaten our national security, and drastically increase costs for families and businesses. “Yet again, President [Joe]Biden has
